My name is Ivy, and this is my little corner of the world.
I’ve been a Midwesterner all my life, an avid coffee drinker for three years, and a mother for five. One of my favorite things in the world is to settle in with a cup of coffee and have a deep conversation with someone I care about.
When I was a little girl, my number one dream in life was to be a mother. When that finally happened, I was ecstatic.
But after an amazing birth, I dealt with the hard reality of postpartum. This wasn’t a dream, it was a journey I wasn’t prepared for.
Eventually things got better, but I always wondered why no one ever told me how hard it could really be.
100% of pregnant women will experience postpartum, but it’s talked about far less than birth.
Postpartum is messy. It’s unexpected. It’s raw and it’s real. If birth is a marathon, then postpartum is a trek. It’s a journey that can last far longer than we ever knew.
No one should have to struggle through postpartum alone. This is a normal part of giving birth- let’s make it normal to talk about.
We are not on our own. There is a community of parents just like you, who experienced their own variation of normal after the birth of their child…. Whether it was their first or their tenth.
